afraid [c'freid] (adj)
1. feeling fear or being frightened (of a person,
    thing etc): စိုးရိမ္သည္။   ေၾကာက္႐ြံ႕သည္။ ထိတ္လန္႕သည္။
    The child is not afraid of the dark;
  ဤကေလးသည္ အေမွာင္ကို   မေၾကာက္ပါ။
    She was afraid to go.
  သူသြားရမွာ ေၾကာက္ေနသည္။
2. sorry (to have to say that):
    (ေျပာရမွာ) အားနာေသာ။
    I'm afraid I don't agree with you.
  အားေတာ့နာပါရဲ႕။ ဒါေပမဲ့   ခင္ဗ်ားေျပာတာကို ကၽြန္ေတာ္   လက္မခံႏိုင္ဘူး။
    Note: He is frightened of (or afraid of)
              the dark: but he was
              frightened by (not afraid by)
              the dog.
